Why I'm building an app

I'm building an app. iOS only, $9.99 once, no subscription. It's going to launch sometime in 2026.

Why now: this website is a textbook. It's good for learning, good for browsing, good for finding the recipe you don't remember the name of. But it's bad in the kitchen. Your hands are floury. The phone goes to sleep. You forget where you were in the method.

The kitchen needs different tools:

• A peak-detector for the starter so you know when it's ready, not just if
• Timers that pause when you do
• A calculator that scales every gram when you change the dough weight
• A bake log so you can compare what you did six months ago to what you did this morning
• A way to share recipes with friends as portable files instead of screenshots

These are not hard problems individually. Together they make the difference between baking once a month and baking every weekend.
